The Warren Commission (WC) claimed that Lee Harvey Oswald (LHO) fired four shots from the hip and hit Dallas Police Officer J.D. Tippit (JDT) all four times in killing him. All this without showing us he knew how to handle a pistol this well.
We have looked at this crime attributed to LHO in many ways before and have seen there is NO way he committed it. This post will look at it in yet another way.

Former Dallas Police Chief Jesse Curry wrote a book about the assassination in 1969 entitled The JFK Assassination File and he used all the evidence that he had seen during the investigation of the murder in 1963. He had a unique vantage point as he saw the whole picture of what was being done to LHO during those first fourty-eight hours and beyond. He also had access to many documents we would NOT see for many years (or still have not seen) and he used them for his book.
The following is from a FBI report done on the alleged murder weapon of JDT. It is known as Commission Exhibit (CE) 143 in the twenty-six volumes of evidence published by the WC, but the FBI labeled it C15 for its tests. Here is what he published in his book about these tests.

[Test bullets were fired for comparison, and] no conclusion could be reached as to whether or not C251 through C253 [test bullets] were fired from the same weapon or whether or not they were fired from C15 [CE 143]. In addition, it was found that even consecutive .38 Special bullets test fired from the C15 revolver COULD NOT be identified with each other. In this connection, it should be noted that the barrel of C15 was designed for .38 Smith & Wesson bullets, and therefore, it is slightly larger in diameter than barrels designed for .38 Special bullets. Firing of the undersized bullets could cause ERRATIC PASSAGE of the bullets down the barrel, resulting in individual microscopic characteristics which are not consistent. (Jesse Curry quoting FBI Report, entitled The JFK Assassination File, p. 96) (Emphasis added)

For the WC defenders who claim LHO shot and killed JDT with NO doubt, how do you explain this information provided by the FBI? They could NOT identify bullets fired from C15 (CE 143), thus, they could NOT say the bullets taken from JDT matched C15. This means there was NO proof LHO shot JDT. End of story.
Notice too how the weapon was designed for Smith & Wesson bullets, but we are to believe LHO did NOT use this type of ammunition. We know from FBI witness Cortland Cunningham that the bullets in JDT were of Winchester Western and Remington-Peters types.
Mr. EISENBERG. And he fired two Winchester and two R-P bullets--now in that case--and, if he then ejected he would get three Winchester and two R-P bullets, would he not--that is, cartridge cases--if he had an extra cartridge case?
Notice what it said if you did NOT use Smith & Wesson bullets too.

So in addition to LHO having no practical experience firing a pistol (especially from the hip) we are too believe he used ammunition NOT suited for the weapon and still hit JDT four out of four times? Also, Cunningham said this about the type of ammunition CE 143 used.
Representative BOGGS. Is this a police weapon as well?
Mr. CUNNINGHAM. Yes; and a very good one. Not in that particular caliber. In other words, the caliber----
Representative BOGGS. That is what I meant.
Mr. CUNNINGHAM. 38 S&W is not a popular cartridge in this country. The .38 Special is.
Representative BOGGS. 38 Special is?
Mr. CUNNINGHAM. Yes, sir. That cartridge.
Representative BOGGS. With police forces?
Mr. CUNNINGHAM. We use it. Most of your larger police forces use the .38 Special. It is a better cartridge.
But instead of purchasing and using a weapon police forces use on a regular basis, with good results, he allegedly orders a gun that uses a cartridge that is NOT COMMON in this country! And then he promptly does NOT use the type of ammunition that is required for optimal performance allegedly! To believe the WC’s theories you would have to believe LHO was the greatest marksman in history and that he was so bored that he deliberately chose the MOST DIFFICULT ways possible to make his kills! This is as ludicrous as the WC Report.
Also, as seen previously, the three of the four bullets taken from JDT were NOT even turned over to the FBI until March 1964 so we have no idea where they were and obviously there is serious doubts concerning their chain of custody.
Mr. EISENBERG. Mr. Chairman, I would like these four bullets admitted as 602, 603, 604, and 605.
Representative FORD. They will be admitted.
Mr. EISENBERG. When did you receive what are now marked 603, 604, and 605, Mr. Cunningham?
Mr. CUNNINGHAM. They were received in the FBI Laboratory on March 16th of this year, and they were submitted to the Laboratory by the Dallas office of the FBI.
Mr. EISENBERG. When were they examined?
Mr. CUNNINGHAM. They were examined on March 17, 1964.
Mr. EISENBERG. Can you explain the great time difference between the receipt and examination of the first bullet and the receipt and examination of the last three bullets?
Mr. CUNNINGHAM. At your request, you asked us to postpone the examination of these three bullets in order to facilitate other examinations you wished more expedited than the examinations of these bullets.
Mr. EISENBERG. Yes; between the submission of the first bullet, and the submission to you of the second three bullets.
Mr. CUNNINGHAM. Well, it is my understanding the first bullet was turned over to the FBI office in Dallas by the Dallas Police Department. They reportedly said this was the only bullet that was recovered, or that they had. Later at the request of this Commission, we went back to the Dallas Police Department and found in their files that they actually had three other bullets.
The DPD said ONLY one bullet was recovered from JDT? Or that they ONLY had one? What? After reading this how can you have any faith in what the DPD and the WC said? I don’t know, but we have many on this forum who keep the faith year after year despite evidence like this.
The bottom line is this—the alleged murder weapon could NOT be matched to the four bullets taken from JDT per the FBI (the DPD claimed that either only one bullet was in him or that they had ONLY one bullet in evidence), test bullets could NOT be matched to each other or the revolver, LHO allegedly ordered a weapon that used a rather uncommon ammunition in the U.S. and he allegedly deliberately used ammunition NOT suited for the weapon in his killing of JDT. Add in the fact the WC provided NO evidence showing he ever used or practiced with a pistol to the claimed shooting (from the hip) of JDT and we are way past reasonable doubt here.
