Month In Review -- May -- 1967 -- William “Bill” Waters dies this month of what police describe as a “drug overdose” (Demerol). No autopsy is performed. His mother says that Lee Harvey Oswald and Hank Killam came to her house prior to the assassination and her son attempted to talk Oswald and Killam out of being involved. Waters called FBI agents following the assassination. The FBI told him he knew too much and to keep his mouth shut. He was subsequently arrested and kept in Memphis in a county jail for eight months on a misdemeanor charge.

Since the Warren Commission (WC) said that both the FBI and the Dallas County Sheriff’s office received warnings about Lee Harvey Oswald (LHO) being killed, why weren’t they better prepared to protect LHO?

On page 209 of the WC Report you will read this:

During the night, between 2:30 and 3 a.m., the local office of the FBI and the Sheriff’s office received telephone calls from an unidentified man who warned that a committee had decided “to kill the man who had killed the President.” Shortly after, an FBI agent notified the Dallas police of the anonymous threat. The Police department and ultimately Chief Curry were informed of both threats. (WCR, p. 209)

Reading this it makes you wonder how LHO was so UNPROTECTED since they had advanced warning of the attack that would be coming. Also, what “committee” decided LHO needed to die? I would love to know that as I’m sure many of you would too.
