According to the official narrative, Lee Harvey Oswald (LHO) defected to the Soviet Union on his own accord in October 1959. The FBI were well aware of this supposed defection as well since this led them to open a "security case" on LHO. The FBI also concluded that a stop should be put against LHO's fingerprints to prevent him from obtaining a passport and entering the United States under a different name. (Church Committee Report, V, p. 87)
The Church Committee (CC) looked into the supposed defection of LHO during their tenure in 1975, and here is what they wrote about it.

...About six months later [following his supposed defection], the Bureau interviewed Oswald's mother who believed that he had taken his birth certificate with him to the Soviet Union. (3) In a memorandum subsequently sent to the State Department, the FBI raised the possibility that an imposter might attempt to return to the United States using Oswald's identity. (4)
B. Oswald's Return To The United States
Despite this concern that an imposter might attempt to enter the United States using Oswald's identity, the FBI did not interview him until almost three weeks after his return on June 13, 1962. There is no indication that any of the FBI agents assigned to the Oswald case were ever warned that an imposter might attempt to assume Oswald's identity. (Ibid.)

IF LHO was a real defector as claimed, why was there such disinterest in his possible defection and the possibility of someone returning to the United States under his identity? Why would LHO take his birth certificate with him if he planned on never returning to the United States? Does this make any sense to you?
Who would try and use LHO's identity? That is the million-dollar question. Could it be that the "two Oswald" theory is correct after all? Did a group insert a different Oswald into the United States? I have believed that the switch was made while LHO was in the United States Marine Corps as we saw a dramatic change in his personality at this time. All of a sudden the communist dialog emerged and he became a reader of communist literature, but what if that was a front? What if LHO was prepping for the change that would happen in the Soviet Union years later?
Whether you want to accept the "two Oswalds" theory or not, no one who is honest can deny the vast difference in LHO's eye color, height and appearance listed in various documents and seen in the numerous photographs of him. He never seemed to appear the same in two photographs to me. How is this possible if it was the same man?
Since there was a warning in 1960 about someone possibly utilizing LHO's identity, why were the FBI so blasé about interviewing him and waiting nearly three weeks to finally do so after he returned to the United States? Couldn't one take from this that they were afraid of the possibility themselves and didn't want to expose it? Most certainly the FBI had to be aware of LHO's ties to the intelligence world and they were possibly afraid of exposing something that was meant to be left alone. You can switch identities, but you cannot switch fingerprints. Is this why the FBI never processed LHO upon his return even though he was a supposed defector? Were they afraid of exposing the fact that the LHO who went to the Soviet Union was no longer the same man? What could be the ramifications of this? Most likely the FBI didn't want to know about this spy world stuff so they just did the basics to make it look good.
LHO clearly had things to hide as he refused to take a polygraph test when interviewed in 1962 by the FBI (one could wonder why they would waste their time on this test when J. Edgar Hoover would later claim that they are "worthless"). One of the questions that FBI Agent John Fain was going to ask him during the test was if he had any dealings with Soviet intelligence. (Ibid., p. 88) LHO refused to take the test when he heard this. Firstly, why would they think a simple defector would have contact with Soviet intelligence? Secondly, why would he refuse to answer this while being hooked up to a polygraph test if he hadn't?
Perhaps he was afraid that his real identity would be revealed. The one that had ties to Soviet intelligence? This has to be considered as despite knowing that the assassination of President John F. Kennedy (JFK) was a conspiracy the Soviet Union has never officially said this. They have never disputed the Warren Commission's (WC) findings despite it being quite obvious that they are not accurate. Why? Well, if we consider that LHO was one of theirs (at least the one gunned down on November 24, 1964) then it makes more sense. If they entered the conversation officially then all this would become public record. What if LHO was here to do something for the Russians and it was learned that he was a Russian asset or spy, wouldn't it be poetic justice, from the United States' intelligence community viewpoint, to make him the patsy for the assassination of JFK? Furthermore, wouldn't the killing of a Russian agent possibly spark World War III? Is this why all of this is still hidden today?
Wasn't James Jesus Angleton of the CIA always searching for Russian moles? Perhaps it was believed that LHO was one such mole. Albeit a small one. Perhaps LHO was working with both sides as there is evidence that he was working with the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) division on possible gun running operations in the Dallas area at the time of the assassination. Did he uncover something that led to his framing as the patsy? These are all intriguing questions that we will never get firm answers to because the United States Government has never conducted an honest and thorough investigation into the assassination. The only type of "investigation" we have received is that LHO was guilty with small tangential looks elsewhere during the time of the House Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA). That is it.
The murder of a president of the strongest country in the world has to be one of the most difficult things to ever attempt, but they expect us to believe that one man who had not practiced with a rifle in years, and certainly never with a bolt-actioned one, got off three shots in 5.6 seconds using a rifle with a loose scope; bad firing pin; no clip which meant hand loading was needed; a tree in his way for a good bit of the time; six stories up from the target; a tough bolt to work; a multiple stage trigger; old and unreliable ammunition; poor angles; a target moving away from him and a good bit of wind with no problem! Under much better circumstances, and multiple attempts, no other person has been able to duplicate this alleged feat and this includes some of the greatest shooters of all-time. Sure, this sounds so much more plausible than multiple shooters and a conspiracy.
LHO was not treated like the average defector and he would get a new passport in record time later on. Clearly, he was more than we have been told he was.
