The Warren Commission (WC) said that the accused assassin of President John F. Kennedy (JFK), Lee Harvey Oswald (LHO), did NOT know his eventual killer -- nightclub owner Jack Ruby. We have seen numerous posts in this long running series where this is called into question by actual evidence in the WC's own twenty-six volumes and their Commission Documents (CD).
This post will cover another witness who said he saw LHO and Ruby together.

IF we look at CD 64, we will read this interesting information about a possible connection between LHO and Jack Ruby.

John G. Monahan, Tulsa, Oklahoma, on 12-2-63, advised he was informed by ROLAND C. CARPENTER, Dallas, Texas, who was in turn informed by a restaurant owner in Dallas that JACK RUBY and LEE HARVEY OSWALD had been in his restaurant together two or three times. (CD 64, p. 2)

This tells us that a restaurant owner in Dallas, Texas, said that he saw LHO and Ruby together two or three times. That is very important as the WC denied any connection and avoided a number of witnesses who had claimed to see them together. This allegation the WC did NOT dismiss as they would cover it in Volume XXVI. The place that these sightings took place at should be well-known to all who have studied this case -- the Eatwell Cafe. As a side note, this restaurant employed one Helen Markham who would be the WC's "star" witness for the murder of Dallas Police Officer J.D. Tippit (JDT).
Roland Carpenter told Monahan that the Eatwell is across the street from his office so he went there for lunch sometimes, and on one occasion the proprietor told him that LHO and Ruby were there together two or three times. All Monahan knew was that the owner was of Greek descent, was elderly and that he did not want to get involved. Luckily for us the FBI was dispatched to check this out and they filed a report that was included in the WC's twenty-six volumes.

Mr. ROLAND CARPENTER...advised that on Tuesday, November 26, 1963, he was having lunch at the Eatwell Cafe on Main Street and he was engaged in a conversation with JIMMY (Last Name Unknown), owner of the cafe...CARPENTER advised that JIMMY was an elderly man and has recently had several strokes. He stated that JIMMY was quite upset over the assassination of the President.
CARPENTER stated that JIMMY mentioned to him that JACK RUBY had been in the restaurant several times to eat...CARPENTER stated that they had discussed the possibility that OSWALD and RUBY had known each other prior to the assassination. He stated that JIMMY did not wish to discuss the matter any further because he did not want to get involved. (Commission Exhibit (CE) 2815, p. 235)

Isn't it amazing how witnesses always change their story after the FBI shows up IF it disagreed with the official conclusion? Carpenter went on to say that he never saw LHO and Ruby in the Eatwell Cafe and that since the assassination there had been many rumors about the two men knowing each other, but he did not put any credence in these rumors. (Ibid.) So why did he tell his friend in Oklahoma about what Jimmy told him then? If he did not put credence in that stuff he wouldn't have passed it onto Monahan then, right?
Every time a witness sees something that did not agree with the official conclusion the FBI came in and got them to recant or they were called "attention seekers" or worse. Is this how an honest investigation is run? Notice how they had to mention that Jimmy had had several strokes as this somehow affected his ability to SEE LHO and Ruby together. Now, admittedly, strokes can affect eyesight, but would he still be running a restaurant IF it had? That is very doubtful. Furthermore, if he had compromised eyesight, why even mention this in the first place? The irony in all of this of course is the WC's "star" witness for LHO being on the Cecil McWatters bus was Mary Bledsoe who had suffered a stroke! Apparently she was okay to testify, but Jimmy's sighting wasn't kosher because of his medical history. This is the typical WC double standard.
Another person who had eaten at the Eatwell Cafe a good bit was Ruby's roommate George Senator. I have covered this in my House Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA) series entitled "The HSCA Says..." and if you are interested then go here.

The point is that IF Senator went there a good bit, and he did, then it is obvious Ruby would too. The question is, did LHO go there? That is the tough part to prove, but it should have been investigated instead of the FBI using the pressure tactic to get Jimmy to recant what he said to Carpenter. Even though he was older it is obvious he was sharp enough to realize there was nothing but trouble waiting for him IF he continued to say he saw LHO and Ruby together. So he excused himself from the issue.
IF this was the only evidence to go on we would have nothing as was planned, but unfortunately for the WC and the FBI there are so many other things that put LHO and Ruby together that they outright ignored or dismissed. Only if they were worried about these would they have done this. IF the truth was LHO did it and he did all alone there would be no need for Gestapo tactics like we see in this case constantly.
Once again, the evidence in this post causes doubt to the official conclusion of Ruby and LHO having a connection, therefore, the WC's conclusion is sunk once more.
