Why was the camera allegedly owned by Lee Harvey Oswald (LHO) NOT turned over to the Dallas Police Department (DPD) until February 1964?
Wasn’t this a vital piece of evidence as it allegedly took the alleged Backyard photographs (BYP’s) showing a figure in black (allegedly LHO) holding the alleged assassination rifle and alleged murder weapon of Dallas Police Officer J.D. Tippit (JDT)? I think so. Of course we have the issue of a MINOX camera being found by the DPD on 11/23/63 and it becoming a “light meter” once in FBI custody too, but let’s look at the testimony regarding this exchange in 1964.
Mr. Liebeler. When the Dallas police and other authorities came out to your house, they eventually took all of Oswald's personal effects, did they not?
Mrs. Paine. No; they did not.
Mr. Liebeler. Did you have anything left in your house that belonged to Oswald?
Mrs. Paine. No; they were eventually taken by Robert Oswald in company with John Thorne and Jim Martin. That was probably the first weekend in December, or at least 2 weeks after the assassination--more likely 3.
Mr. Liebeler. Do you recall what was among these things that Robert Oswald and Mr. Martin took?
Mrs. Paine. They took the clothes from the closet, boxes and things that I ,did not look into. I have heard from the police that it also included an old camera which they had to chase later and went up to Robert Oswald's to find it.
Why was this camera allowed to sit and NOT be confiscated during the search on 11/23/63? Was it because it was NOT the camera they found in the first place and had NO connection to anything? There is no other reason for it being allowed to be missing until Robert Oswald turned it in the next year.
