The Warren Commission (WC) offered testimony that showed immediately following the shots Secret Service (SS) Agent William Greer (the driver of the Presidential limousine) followed Chief Curry’s lead car to Parkland Hospital (PH). This is vital because he would NOT know the way, and said so, since he was NOT from or familiar with Dallas. IF this is NOT true, and it seems it is NOT, then how did Greer know how to get there?
**********************************************
Jim Marrs covers this often-overlooked subject in his book "Crossfire: The Plot That Killed Kennedy" (CTPTKK). He begins this discussion on page 361 under the heading "Two Hospitals".
He points out that SS agent William Greer, the driver of JFK's limousine, testified to the WC he did NOT know the way to Parkland Hospital (PH) and so followed Sheriff Decker and Chief Curry in the lead car. This testimony is supported by two other agents, Forrest Sorrels and Winston Lawson. Marrs points out that Chief Curry is extremely vague in his testimony before the WC regarding this issue as he said the limousine went to PH under "siren escort."
Mr. Curry. ...I said, "Take us to the hospital immediately," and I got on the radio and I told them to notify Parkland Hospital to stand by for an emergency, and this is approximately, I would say, perhaps a couple of miles or so to Parkland Hospital from this, and we went to Parkland and I notified them to have them to be standing by for an emergency, and we went out there under siren escort and went into the emergency entrance.
The problem is that during the House Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA) hearings a film taken by Dallasite Jack Daniel was seen by many for the first time. This film was taken just as the motorcade exited from the west end of the Triple Underpass and entered Stemmons Freeway. As Marrs points out, this film clearly shows that the presidential limousine and the SS backup car had PASSED Curry's lead car and were LEADING the race to PH.
Jack Daniel Film:
Marrs asked quite appropriately, "How could Washington-based Agent Greer know how to find PH, and more important, why did he state in his Commission testimony, "I NEVER passed (Curry's car)...I was LED to the hospital by the police car who was preceding me?" (emphasis mine)
Mr. SPECTER. Were you led to the hospital?
Mr. GREER. Yes, sir; I was led to the hospital by the police car who was preceding me.
Marrs says, "Either these highly trained agents panicked and forgot what actually happened or they LIED about it. Since the Daniel film can't lie, the question remains, how did Greer know how to reach PH?" (Emphasis mine.)
Jim Marrs said the following:
1) Greer testified that he followed Curry's lead car!
Mr. SPECTER. Were you led to the hospital?
Mr. GREER. Yes, sir; I was led to the hospital by the police car who was preceding me.
2) The film that was shown at the HSCA investigation showed the limousine blowing past the lead car and heading off on its own.
There are parts of Greer's testimony that in and of itself call into question the claim above about following the lead car. Things like this!
Mr. SPECTER. Do you know what speed you were traveling at en route to the hospital?
Mr. GREER. No, sir; I couldn't say. I was just getting through the traffic and through the streets as fast as I could get through.
Generally, when one is following someone else the term "we" is used. Why did he stick with the *singular* here as IF he was NOT following anyone?
And this!
Mr. SPECTER. When you accelerated your automobile, did you at any time come alongside of or pass the police car in front of you?
Mr. GREER. No, sir; I never passed it. I came up alongside one or two motorcycle men and I called to them "get to a hospital fast". You know, I called to them "hospital".
This is found right in front of the first quote about following the lead car to the hospital! These two statements are at ODDS with each other! IF you are following the CHIEF OF POLICE and the SHERRIFF why would you tell a cop on a motorcycle to lead you to the hospital? This makes NO sense at all and it shows signs of trying to cover for his actions IMO.
Greer also testified to Kellerman supposedly contacting the lead car to get them to a hospital, but he also said Kellerman made other transmissions that did NOT include the hospital!
Mr. SPECTER. Was there any radio communication between your automobile and the hospital at any time prior to your arrival at the hospital?
Mr. GREER. No, sir; not between the hospital and our car.
Mr. SPECTER. Did Mr. Kellerman have any radio contact at all with anyone in addition to that which you have already described?
Mr. GREER. He may have had some more communications to the car, the lead car, but I can't remember what they were now.
Maybe it was a simple as more discussion with the lead car (like where are you guys?) as he hints to, but it seems odd he would NOT state this flat-out to me. Who else could Kellerman been talking to and why did Greer NOT want to say?
Until someone can show the claims of Greer and the WC are correct we will have to conclude another claim is incorrect.
