This post comes about from Ben Holmes recent arguments regarding the noted cause of death to President John F. Kennedy (JFK) by quite a few doctors and the inability of the alleged murder weapon to meet this standard. Thus, the official theory is debunked.
Ben is lying when he claims the 6.5mm Mannlicher-Carcano (M-C) is a high-velocity weapon as we have seen from different sources saying the following.
A 17"- 24" barreled 6.5mm M-C will produce anywhere from 2000fps to 2225fps at short distances IF the the lighter bullet is used. The alleged murder weapon fits into this barrel length, BUT NOT the grain weight as it used the HEAVIER load variety allegedly.
He said he gave me cites showing it is high-velocity but I did NOT see them, but I would like to as he probably listed the long rifle (30" - 32" barrel length) as his evidence. This version is capable of producing up to 2500fps with a light load.
Norma, a manufacturer of the 6.5mm ammunition, has shown the following data for their bullets:
140 grain - 2225fps
160 grain - 2067fps (This is the type of load Lee Harvey Oswald (LHO) would have used.)
Distance is another factor. The Warren Commission (WC) claimed the head shot was hit at a range of 265.3 feet! The average speed for a short rifle with a 160 grain bullet can be calculated between 1640-1850fps, this is NOT high-velocity stuff!
My point for this post is to show the deception the man known as Ben Holmes uses. We have all seen Ben mention the 16 smoking guns numerous times, but in case you missed it here are some of the mentions.
“Oh, that's not *completely* true. I pointed out that Bugliosi was too cowardly to answer the '16 Smoking Guns', and DVP simply asserted that he had... with no page cites, of course.” (Ben Holmes – 10/28/07)
And:
“I find it amusing that he is *provably* aware of the 16 smoking guns, but couldn't find the time to address it in his lengthy tome.” (Ben Holmes – 12/23/08)
And:
“Mr. Bugliosi's book is actually magnificent, …(David Von Pein)
“Magnificent indeed! It demonstrates that no matter *how* many words you throw, you'll *STILL* have to run from the evidence...
As Bugliosi provably did from the 16 Smoking Guns.” (Ben Holmes –4/26/09)
Here is the section verbatim for those of you without this great book in your collection.

SMOKING GUN #3: The weapon, which was not even a rifle, could not have fired the bullets that killed the President falsifying (H3).* (my note: see the bottom for Hypothesis 3)
Consider (H3), finally, which maintains that the bullets hit their target were fired by Lee Harvey Oswald using a high-powered rifle, which The Warren Report (1964) also identified as a Mannlicher-Carcano. As other authors, including Harold Weisberg, "Whitewash" (1965), Peter Model and Robert Groden, "JFK: The Case For Conspiracy" (1976), and Robert Groden and Harrison E. Livingstone, "High Treason" (1989) have also observed, the Mannlicher-Carcano that Oswald is supposed to have used is 6.5mm weapon, but it is NOT high velocity. Its muzzle velocity of approximately 2,000 fps means that is qualifies as a medium-to-low velocity weapon.
[Editor's note: Indeed, the Mannlicher-Carcano Oswald allegedly ordered is not a rifle but a carbine.]
The death certificates, The Warren Report, articles in the Journal of the AMA, and other sources state that the President was killed by wounds inflicted by high velocity missiles. (Some are reprinted in "Assassination Science" (1998).) The Mannlicher-Carcano is the only weapon that Oswald is alleged to have used to kill the President, but the Mannlicher-Carcano is not a high-velocity weapon; consequently, Lee Oswald could not have fired the bullets that killed the President. Thus, hypothesis (H3) cannot be true. This discovery is especially important, because the extensive damage sustained by JFK's skull and brain could not possibly have been inflicted by a weapon of this kind. The major trauma the President endured had to have been inflicted by one or more high-velocity weapons.
The three major hypotheses given to us by the WC, and reaffirmed by the House Select Committee On Assassinations (HSCA) were:
(H1) JFK was hit at the base of the back of his neck by a bullet that traversed his neck without hitting any bony structures and exited his throat at the level of this tie;
(H2) JFK was hit in the back of his head by a bullet fired from the sixth floor of the TSBD, as its diagram display, causing his death; and,
(H3) these bullets were fired by a sole assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald, using a HIGH-POWERED RIFLE, which was identified as a 6.5mm Italian Mannlicher-Carcano.

Why does he lie and say the short rifle (40") Carcano was a high-velocity weapon when it was NOT? Why does he lie and claim LHO ordered a 40" Carcano when the evidence they gave us clearly shows he would have ordered a 36" Carbine IF he ordered any at all?
Why does he claim all the doctors who have said this are wrong with NO evidence? Why does he say I defend the WC when obviously all these other well-regarded researchers are saying the same thing? Do they all support the WC too?
I think we see once and for all Ben's true colors with this topic (I saw them many months ago) as he is lying through his teeth so the WC's theory can stay afloat. He is a WC defender in CT clothes IMO.
Finally, I found this funny quote of Ben's about Tony the other day and wanted to share it with you all.
“Tony (Marsh) always enjoys putting forth his ideas as fact.” (Ben Holmes – 10/13/07)
Does ANY quote describe Walt better than this? LOL! NOT in my book, yet, Ben NEVER had a single problem when Walt did this, I wonder why?

So we see Ben supposedly believes in these 16 Smoking Guns developed by James Fetzer, right? Well I wonder, because on page 5 of "Murder In Dealey Plaza" there is Smoking Gun #3 which deals with this VERY TOPIC and it seems Ben is AT ODDS WITH MR. FETZER'S (and MY) view!

Thus, we see the many lies of Ben, starting with his defense of these smoking guns on numerous other occasions, but NOW he argues AGAINST everything this particular one says. Why?
