We are told by the Warren Commission (WC), and their defenders, that Lee Harvey Oswald (LHO) supposedly shot Dallas Police Officer JD Tippit (JDT), and while doing so he had on a jacket. The odd thing about this claim was that LHO's jacket would be found TEN DAYS LATER in the Texas School Book Depository (TSBD)! Marina Oswald, his wife, said that he ONLY had two jackets and neither matched CE-162 (the alleged jacket he wore to shoot JDT). She in fact referred to CE-162 and CE-163 as being "sort of a jackets"!
****************************************
Mr. RANKIN. 162?
Mrs. OSWALD. That is Lee's--an old shirt.
Mr. RANKIN. Sort of a jacket?
Mrs. OSWALD. Yes.
Mr. RANKIN. 163?
Mrs. OSWALD. Also.
How is something "an old shirt" one minute and than a few seconds later "sort of a jacket?" How does that work? Aren't shirts and jackets DIFFERENT in appearances? I would think so. I think we see more "tap-dancing" by the WC.
She had NO memory of what he wore on 11/22/63. This is important too as they tried to show he wore CE-163 on the MORNING of the assassination. This is the jacket that would be found ten days later in the TSBD (blue zipper jacket).
Mr. RANKIN. Do you recall which one of the sweaters or jackets he was wearing on the morning of November 22, 1963?
Mrs. OSWALD. I don't remember.
Mr. RANKIN. When was the last time that you saw this jacket, Exhibit 163?
Mrs. OSWALD. I don't remember.
Mr. RANKIN. Do you remember seeing it on the morning of November 22, 1963?
Mrs. OSWALD. The thing is that I saw Lee in the room, and I didn't see him getting dressed in the room. That is why it is difficult for me to say. But I told him to put on something warm on the way to work.
Mr. RANKIN. Do you recall whether the jacket, Exhibit 163, is something that he put on in your presence at any time that day?
Mrs. OSWALD. Not in my presence.
Mr. RANKIN. And you didn't observe it on him at any time, then?
Mrs. OSWALD. No.
Hmm. Well, the WC FAILED to get her to say that he wore the jacket they would find in the TSBD (and obviously "removed" to shoot at JFK per them) later on, so what could they do now? Why, that is easy, they would give her a HYPOTHETICAL and have her GUESS for us!
Mr. RANKIN. Is it possible that Exhibit 163 was worn by him that morning without your knowing about it?
Mrs. OSWALD. Quite possible.
It is also quite possible he DID NOT wear CE-163 on that day too, but with NO defense attorney to point this out we are left with this RIDICULOUS sham tactic by the WC's lawyer.
Since she did NOT see LHO later on in the day we will leave her testimony here and look at some other witnesses that supposedly saw CE-162 on the shooter of JDT.
Let's start with the person closest to the shooting of JDT -- Domingo Benavides. Also keep in mind CE-162 was a LIGHT GRAY JACKET.
Mr. BELIN - Anything else you can think of about the man after you saw him? What was he wearing? What did he look like?
Mr. BENAVIDES - Well, he was kind of, well, just about your size.
Mr. BELIN - About my size? I am standing up.
Mr. BENAVIDES - You are about 5' 10"?
Mr. BELIN - I am between 5' 10" and 5' 11". Closer to 5' 11", I believe.
Mr. BENAVIDES - I would say he was about your size, and he had a light-beige jacket, and was lightweight.
---------
Mr. BELIN - I am handing you a jacket which has been marked as "Commission's Exhibit 163," (typo in McAdams' site -- should be CE-162) and ask you to state whether this bears any similarity to the jacket you saw this man with the gun wearing?
Mr. BENAVIDES - I would say this looks just like it. Looks like he had laundried it, but it looks like it was a newer coat than that.
So we see Benavides did NOT ID CE-162 as the jacket he saw. How about Callaway?
Mr. BALL. What did you tell them you saw?
Mr. CALLAWAY. I told them he had some dark trousers and a light tannish gray windbreaker jacket, and I told him that he was fair complexion, dark hair.
------
Mr. BALL. I have a jacket here Commission's Exhibit No. 162. Does this look anything like the jacket that the man had on that you saw across the street with a gun?
Mr. CALLAWAY. Yes; it sure does. Yes, that is the same type jacket. Actually, I thought it had a little more tan to it.
We again see the WC FAILED to get an ID to the jacket they claimed LHO was wearing when he shot JDT. Callaway thought there was a "little more tan to it". How about Scoggins?
Mr. BELIN. Let me ask you this now. When you first saw this man, had the police car stopped or not?
Mr. SCOGGINS. Yes; he stopped. When I saw he stopped, then I looked to see why he was stopping, you see, and I saw this man with a light-colored jacket on.
Mr. BELIN. Now, you saw a man with a light-colored jacket. With relation to the police car, was the man east of the police car, west of the police car, or kind of.
Mr. SCOGGINS. Just a little east is the best I can remember.
------
Mr. BELIN. Mr. Scoggins, handing you Exhibit 162, have you ever seen any jacket on any person in that area of East 10th and Patton that looks familiar to, or looks anything similar to this exhibit, or does this appear to be lighter or darker than the jacket?
Mr. SCOGGINS. It appears to be a little lighter, but the sleeves look familiar all right, the type of sleeve. He had on a jacket, the type of sleeve of that, but I thought it was a little darker.
Again, we see NO firm ID of the jacket shown. True, memories can be tricky, but we see a consistent pattern of NO one saying CE-162 was DEFINITELY THE JACKET they saw. We even see Belin prepare us by asking if the jacket shown to him (CE-162) "...appeared to be LIGHTER or DARKER than the jacket he saw." How about Markham?
Mrs. MARKHAM. He had on a light short jacket, dark trousers. I looked at his clothing, but I looked at his face, too.
Mr. BALL. Did he have the same clothing on that the man had that you saw shoot the officer?
Mrs. MARKHAM. He had, these dark trousers on.
Mr. BALL. Did he have a jacket or a shirt? The man that you saw shoot Officer Tippit and run away, did you notice if he had a jacket on?
Mrs. MARKHAM. He had a jacket on when he done it.
Mr. BALL. What kind of a jacket, what general color of jacket?
Mrs. MARKHAM. It was a short jacket open in the front, kind of a grayish tan.
Mr. BALL. Did you tell the police that?
Mrs. MARKHAM. Yes, I did.
-------
Mr. BALL. Did this number two man that you mentioned to the police have any jacket on when he was in the lineup?
Mrs. MARKHAM. No, sir.
A couple of things jump out here. First of all, we see her *CORROBORATE* Callaway's description of the jacket as he too said it had TAN in it! Secondly, how could the Dallas Police Department (DPD) conduct fair and balanced lineups when they did NOT have LHO wear the alleged jacket he was wearing when he allegedly shot JDT? Why was LHO put in a lineup with NO jacket on? Wasn't this a VITAL part of the description? I would think so.
What about this WC claim DESTROYING comment?
Mr. BALL. I have here an exhibit, Commission Exhibit 162, a jacket. Did you ever see this before?
Mrs. MARKHAM. No; I did not.
Mr. BALL. Does it look like, anything like, the jacket the man had on?
Mrs. MARKHAM. It is short, open down the front. But that jacket it is a darker jacket than that, I know it was.
Here is another witness, the ONLY one that supposedly identified LHO (and that is a joke in and of itself) as the shooter saying CE-162 was NOT the jacket she saw on the gunman! How many does it take?
I don't know, but let's keep going. Here is Mrs. Virginia Davis' comment.
Mr. BELIN. Do you remember what he had on?
Mrs. DAVIS. He had on a light-brown-tan jacket.
Mr. BELIN. Do you remember what color his trousers were?
Mrs. DAVIS. I think they were black. Brown jacket and trousers.
Another one bites the dust. Mrs. Barbara Davis.
Mr. BALL. I have a jacket, I would like to show you, which is Commission Exhibit No. 162. Does this look anything like the jacket that the man had on that was going across your lawn?
Mrs. DAVIS. No, sir.
Mr. BALL. How is it different?
Mrs. DAVIS. Well, it was dark and to me it looked like it was maybe a wool fabric, it looked sort of rough. Like more of a sporting jacket.
Here is another witness that did NOT see CE-162. To be fair though, one witness did identify it -- it was Sam Guinyard.
Mr. BALL. Now, the next exhibit here is Commission Exhibit No. 162; have you ever seen this before?
Mr. GUINYARD. That's the jacket.
Mr. BALL. This is a gray jacket?
Mr. GUINYARD.Yes; that's the gray jacket.
The problem with this identification is CE-162 was NOT the jacket that was found behind the Texaco station as that one was white in color.
The WC, and its many defenders, cannot show us LHO's CE-162 was the jacket worn by him when he allegedly shot JDT. That is to be expected though since they can't show LHO shot JDT with evidence or that he owned CE-143 either.
