The Warren Commission (WC) claimed that Lee Harvey Oswald (LHO) shot at retired General Edwin A. Walker (EAW) on the night of April 10, 1963. They did NOT provide any supporting evidence for this claim that would hold up to the slightest scrutiny.
The *key* piece, an alleged round (Commission Exhibit (CE) 573) fired allegedly at EAW by LHO, had NO chain of custody tied to it! It also lacked the identification of the man who held the round on the night of the shooting -- EAW! He said CE 573 was NOT the round he saw and held on April 10.
The Dallas Police Department (DPD) mentioned the round EAW did see and hold on the night in question and in NINE separate reports they listed the bullet as being of a "STEEL-JACKETED" make! CE 573 is a COPPER-JACKETED bullet. The media reported the bullet as being of a .30 caliber variety, and again, the bullet in question (per the WC) was NOT. It was a 6.5 mm type.
The ONLY witness to the crime described TWO men fleeing the scene and meeting a THIRD man at a car before they all drove off. The WC said LHO was the ONLY shooter and he did NOT drive. They also claimed he carried a rifle onto a BUS and then buried it after the shooting. OF course, they never supported these claims in the least or told us why LHO would NOT want to carry a rifle home on a bus but would have NO problem carrying one to the alleged crime scene and retrieving it later ONLY to carry it onto a bus. Does this make any sense to you?
One of the few things they used to try and show guilt was a claim that LHO told George De Mohrenschildt that he had fired at EAW. Let's look at his testimony and see if this is correct.
***********************************************
First off, the WC would try and have De Mohrenschildt establish that LHO owned a gun. It is all speculative though as we don't know IF LHO ever had a gun to begin with based on the evidence the WC gave us. Let's see what he said about LHO and guns first.
Mr. JENNER. Did you ever discuss with him his experiences in Russia with respect to hunting?
Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. Never have.
Mr. JENNER. No discussions?
Mr. JENNER. Or the use of any weapons or his right to have weapons when he was in Russia?
Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. I did not know even that he was interested in weapons 'til the day--which probably you will ask me later on--Easter, I think, when my wife saw his gun. I didn't know he was interested. I didn't know he had the gun. I didn't know he was interested in shooting or hunting. I didn't know he was a good shot or never had any impression.
So until a rifle is seen in the closet of the Oswald's' apartment he has NO idea LHO is interested in guns, has a gun, or is any good with a gun. How do we know the rifle allegedly seen was even LHO's? We don't. Let's see what he said about this.
Mr. JENNER. In April?
Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. In April. It was in the second apartment that they had.
Mr. JENNER. That was on Neely Street?
Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. On Neely I think one block from the previous place they used to live.
Mr. JENNER. Yes.
Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. And Jeanne told me that day, "Let's go and take a rabbit for Oswald's baby."
Mr. JENNER. This was on Easter Sunday?
Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. Easter day. I don't remember it was Easter Sunday.
Mr. JENNER. Easter is always on Sunday.
Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. Yes; maybe it was the day before, the day after, but I think it was on the holiday. Maybe my wife will remember the date exactly. And so we drove over quite late in the evening and walked up--I think they were asleep. They were asleep and we knocked at the door and shouted, and Lee Oswald came down undressed, half undressed you see, maybe in shorts, and opened the door and we told him that we have the rabbit for the child. And it was a very short visit, you know. We just gave the rabbit to the baby and I was talking to Lee while Jeanne was talking to Marina about something which is immaterial which I do not recall right now, and all of a sudden----
Mr. JENNER. Excuse me. Mr. Reporter, Jeanne is spelled J-e-a-n-n-e.
Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. And I think Oswald and I were standing near the window looking outside and I was asking him "How is your job" or "Are you making any money? Are you happy," some question of that type. All of a sudden Jeanne who was with Marina in the other room told me "Look, George, they have a gun here." And Marina opened the closet and showed it to Jeanne, a gun that belonged obviously to Oswald.
IF this rifle did belong to LHO as claimed, then where did he get it? Who could have given or lent it to him? We have to ask this question because the evidence the WC gave us does NOT show LHO ever ordered a 40" Carcano or received ANY package at his Dallas P.O. Box so it can't be the one they claimed he ordered from Klein's! Who would give/lend a rifle to LHO?
We also have NO confirmation from de Mohrenschildt as to whether he saw CE 139 or not.
Mr. JENNER. This was a weapon? Did you go in and look?
Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. No; I didn't look at the gun. I was still standing. The closet was open. Jeanne was looking at it, at the gun, and I think she asked Marina "what is that" you see. That was the sight on the gun. "What is that? That looks like a telescopic sight." And Marina said "That crazy idiot is target shooting all the time." So frankly I thought it was ridiculous to shoot target shooting in Dallas, you see, right in town. I asked him "Why do you do that?"
So we see De Mohrenschildt is a lousy witness for saying the rifle allegedly in the closet is the same one the WC claimed LHO owned. He NEVER looked at the alleged rifle (we have to say alleged rifle as given the track record of Marina and others we can't just take anyone's word for it in this case) so how would he know? We also see the claim that he was "target shooting" all the time too, but like practically every other CLAIM made by the WC and its host of witnesses they NEVER supported this claim. In fact, Marina would claim he went to Lop Field (Love Field) to target practice! Who can go to an AIRPORT and shoot at things and NOT GET ARRESTED?
Now, they move to the EAW incident and use De Mohrenschildt to try and set the stage for this alleged shooting feat.
Mr. JENNER. What did he say?
Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. He said "I go out and do target shooting. I like target shooting." So out of the pure, really jokingly I told him "Are you then the guy who took a pot shot at General Walker?" And he smiled to that, because just a few days before there was an attempt at General Walker's life, and it was very highly publicized in the papers, and I knew that Oswald disliked General Walker, you see. So I took a chance and I asked him this question, you see, and I can clearly see his face, you know.
He sort of shriveled, you see, when I asked this question.
Mr. JENNER. He became tense?
Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. Became tense, you see, and didn't answer anything, smiled, you know, made a sarcastic--not sarcastic, made a peculiar face.
Mr. JENNER. The expression on his face?
Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. That is right, changed the expression on his face.
So it seems De Mohrenschildt was an EXPERT in reading body language and facial expressions like the LNers are on various forums. See, they can tell by a smirk that LHO is guilty of TWO MURDERS! LOL! If LHO was granted his rights (or they were NOT trying a DEAD MAN) a defense attorney could have barred this or sunk it by stating the witness is NOT an expert in body language and facial expressions in terms of reading what they meant. Did LHO say he shot at EAW? NO, we are being given the impression he did by a "smile" and a "tensing" up by De Mohrenschildt! How did they cover for the fact that he did NOT say he did shoot at EAW? They used the ploy he was too shrewd to do that!
Mr. JENNER. You saw that your remark to him----
Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. Yes.
Mr. JENNER. Had an effect on him.
Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. Had an effect on him. But naturally he did not say yes or no, but that was it. That is the whole incident. I remember after we were leaving, Marina went in the garden and picked up a large bouquet of roses for us. They have nice roses downstairs and gave us the roses to thank for the gift of the rabbit.
Why would he have to say yes or no with a body language and facial expression expert like De Mohrenschildt there? So we see LHO is smeared with an allegation that he shot at EAW when the man NEVER SAID HE DID! This was the typical way the WC operated.
Some have said a point that was added to President John F. Kennedy’s (JFK) list of reasons for execution was his championship of equal rights for the colored people. Could this have been a reason why LHO also was selected as the patsy?
Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. He was ferociously, maybe too much so, for integration, advocate of integration. He said that it was hurting him, the fact that the colored people did not have the same rights as the white ones, and this is my opinion also, you see.
This is a very interesting comment and NOT one that was asked of De Mohrenschildt so was his urgency to get it into the record a clue for us?
Now, back to the claim that LHO shot at Walker. Look at this testimony.
Mr. JENNER. I would like to return to this gun, this weapon incident, the Walker incident.
Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. Yes.
Mr. JENNER. Was there ever an occasion after this time, when you and Mrs. De Mohrenschildt came to see the Oswalds, that as soon as you opened the door, you said, "Lee, how is it possible that you missed?"
Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. Never. I don't recall that incident.
Oh well, another WC claim bites the dust! The WC recovered though and gave him another chance to hang LHO.
Mr. JENNER. Weapon incident, and what you said to him?
Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. Yes, yes, yes, yes; that is right. How could I have--my recollections are vague, of course, but how could I have said that when I didn't know that he had a gun you see. I was standing there and then Jeanne told us or Marina, you know, the incident just as I have described it, that here is a gun, you see. I remember very distinctly saying, "Did you take the potshot at General Walker?" The same meaning you know, "Did you miss him," about the same meaning? I didn't want him to shoot Walker. I don't go to that extent you see.
So let me get this straight, he is told LHO has a rifle in the closet, but does NOT go and look at it, and the EAW incident just comes up and he puts two and two together and asked LHO if he did the shooting? My goodness, he is a quicker solver of crime than even the DPD! LOL!
Mr. JENNER. You didn't want him to shoot anybody?
Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. Anybody. I didn't want him to shoot anybody. But if somebody has a gun with a telescopic lens you see, and knowing that he hates the man, it is a logical assumption you see.
Oh wait, that clears it up! So, if someone has a gun with a sight and they hate someone that means they will go out and shoot at them! NOW I get it! What?
Remember, he NEVER SAW THE RIFLE EITHER!
Mr. JENNER. Did you see the weapon?
Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. I did not see the weapon.
Mr. JENNER. I won't show it to you then. Was there any discussion about the weapon thereafter?
Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. No, no discussion. That ended the conversation, the remark about Walker, ended the conversation. There was a silence after that, and we changed the subject and left very soon afterwards.
Excuse me, but isn't shooting at someone a crime? Isn't NOT reporting a crime a crime too? Why is this NOT mentioned? Why is he NOT asked why they did NOT report this suspicion to the DPD? Why was George and Jeanne NEVER taken in?
This is very interesting for those who know about this stuff.
Mr. JENNER. Are you a member of a group in Dallas known as the Bohemian Club?
Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. Oh, yes, yes.
Mr. JENNER. Tell us about the Bohemian Club. Did you organize it?
Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. Yes; Mr. Ballen and I organized it together and the occasion arose one day when Mr. Ballen and I were driving back from a well, an oil well we were driving far away from Dallas. It was a long drive and we were discussing our lives in Dallas and a little bit exchange about the sort of boring people we have around in Dallas you know, nothing but Texans. And then by God, says Ballen, "We should do something about it. We should organize--there are some interesting people in Dallas. We should organize a group for free discussion. And also we should put--we all like to eat well. Let's combine it with good eating." And that is how the idea originated.
Mr. JENNER. And you called it what?
Mr. De MOHRENSCHILDT. We called it the Bohemian Club, a little bit based on the Bohemian Club in San Francisco. And we invited--we decided to invite people who are sort of unusual and in different professions, and that no business should be discussed during the meetings, that the member whose turn it is to make a speech should also provide the dinner, and either cook it himself or his wife would cook it or he should invite all of us to a restaurant of his choice. This lasted I guess for a year or 2 years you know. We had quite a few meetings, very interesting, controversial meetings, because the main point was that you had to express yourself freely on the subject which is very important to you. Then followed a discussion of all the other members.
Very interesting.
Was Jeanne able to identify the rifle as being CE 139?
Mr. JENNER. Then, go on. Tell me about it.
Mrs. De MOHRENSCHILDT. And I believe from what I remember George sat down on the sofa and started talking to Lee, and Marina was showing me the house that is why I said it looks like it was the first time, because why would she show me the house if I had been there before? Then we went to another room, and she opens the closet, and I see the gun standing there. I said, what is the gun doing over there?
Mr. JENNER. You say---
Mrs. De MOHRENSCHILDT. A rifle.
Mr. JENNER. A rifle, in the closet?
Mrs. De MOHRENSCHILDT. In the closet, right in the beginning. It wasn't hidden or anything.
Mr. JENNER. Standing up on its butt?
Mrs. De MOHRENSCHILDT. Yes.
Mr. JENNER. I show you Commission Exhibit 139. Is that the rifle that you saw?
Mrs. De MOHRENSCHILDT. It looks very much like it.
First of all, how fortunate was it for the WC that Marina decided to open the CLOSET WITH THE RIFLE IN IT? I mean, I have taken tours of peoples' homes over the years and NOT once has anyone opened a closet for me! I wouldn't ask anyone to either as this is where most of us keep our excess junk! Now, if it was wintertime and they had jackets on that would be one thing, but we are to believe she ups and opens the one closet with a RIFLE IN IT for no reason? Come on. This stretches the bounds of common sense.
Also, Mrs. De Mohrenschildt only said, "it looks very much like" CE 139, but as we have seen and discussed for years so does a Mauser look like CE-139. At least that is the excuse the LNers give us for why they said it was a Mauser initially. She did NOT say it was CE 139 for sure.
So we see, beyond the note that does NOT mention Walker and De Mohrenschildt's ability to read body language and facial expressions (tongue in cheek), the WC presented NOTHING but claims with NO support for their attempt to link LHO to the EAW shooting. We see the same pattern over and over again. The evidence in the twenty-six volumes simply does NOT support the claims made by the WC.
