On November 2, 1963, South Vietnamese president Ngo Dinh Diem is arrested and assassinated durung a CIA-backed coup. Diem's brother, Ngo Dinh Nhu, is also killed.
After JFK's own assassination he will be blamed for this act. JFK was on the record opposing using assassination as a political tool however, and over time it would shown that this was a falsehood perpetrated by CIA folks like E. Howard Hunt.
It would be posited by some that JFK was assassinated as a result of this supposed action by him, but since the claim of him ordering Diem's murder is false this claim is false too.
Proof that this theory is false is seen in the failure to use it to justify a full-scale deployment of American forces to South Vietnam as desired by the Pentagon and the CIA.
