The Warren Commission (WC) claimed that Lee Harvey Oswald (LHO) fired three shots in his assassination of President John F. Kennedy (JFK) on November 22, 1963. One shot was said to miss the limousine and go on to cause the injury to bystander James Tague. We have looked at this issue a number of times in this series.
Another shot supposedly hit JFK in the base of the neck and exited his throat before going on to enter Texas Governor John B. Connally (JBC). This theory became known as the Single Bullet Theory (SBT). The SBT flew in the face of the known evidence and as we have seen in a myriad of ways in this series that it was impossible. It never occurred.
The third shot was the fatal one to JFK’s head. We have looked at this issue many times in this series as well and the verdict is the shot did not originate from behind as claimed, but it came from the front instead. This post is not intended to discuss any of these issues again.
The purpose of this post is to look at the WC’s claim in a new way in regard to the head wound.
*****************************************
The WC did not publish the autopsy photographs and X-rays, and this is unforgivable. Their excuse was to save the Kennedy family, but this excuse rings hollow as cheating the family of true justice was a much harsher thing to do. Instead of the true evidence we were given drawings of the wounds and their paths.
Mr. SPECTER - Dr. Humes, before you identify what that represents let me place Commission Exhibit No. 385 on it so it may be identified.
(The drawing was marked Commission Exhibit No. 385 for identification.)
Commander HUMES - When appraised of the necessity for our appearance before this Commission, we did not know whether or not the photographs which we had made would be available to the Commission. So, to assist in making our testimony more understandable to the Commission members, we decided to have made drawings, schematic drawings, of the situation as we saw it, as we recorded it and as we recall it. These drawings were made under my supervision and that of Dr. Boswell by Mr. Rydberg, whose initials are H. A. He is a hospital corpsman, second class, and a medical illustrator in our command at Naval Medical School.
Mr. SPECTER - Did you provide him with the basic information from which these drawings were made?
Commander HUMES - Yes, sir.
We are left with schematic drawings that were supervised by a man, Commander James Humes, who burned his original autopsy notes on the morning of November 24, 1963. How trustworthy can these be? If the WC was really searching for the truth, why would they not include the autopsy photographs and X-rays in their report or the twenty-six volumes of exhibits?
We have to rely on drawings like this. Commission Exhibit (CE) 385 and 386:

How do we know that these are accurate and truly depict the wounds that were seen? Given the issues relating to the back wound clearly nothing can be taken too seriously without evidence.
Here is CE 388.

CE 388 depicts the head shot from the WC’s point of view. The evidence does not support this depiction as we have seen previously in this series. The Zapruder film also does not show JFK’s head to be in this position at the time of the head shot, therefore, that alone nullifies this drawing.
Other evidence negates this drawing too and we have covered it in previous posts in this series. One piece I have not gone into is the autopsy face sheet in regard to the head wound. Here is CE 397.

If we look at the face sheet, we see a human figure that was used to demonstrate the wounds on the body. The figure on the right represents the wounds found on the back of the body. It has been discussed already how it depicts the wound in the back below the shoulders and NOT at the base of the neck as the WC claimed. Now, look at the head wound.
Yes, it shows it entering the back of the head even though all the evidence points to a frontal shot but note the direction of the bullet on the face sheet. The arrow is NOT pointed forward as the WC claimed, and depicted in CE 388, but rather to the left of the skull. Given the trajectory from the alleged Sniper’s Nest to the limousine this would be the expected path had the bullet entered JFK’s head as claimed. How do the WC defenders explain this? The WC never did. Is it just another mistake in an seemingly endless string of mistakes? It also notes the wound to be ragged, and entry wounds are neat and clean. How do we explain this?
If it was a mistake, who’s was it? The WC’s or Commander Thorton Boswell’s as he prepared the face sheet? Why does none of the evidence support the claims of the WC? Why would the WC publish a drawing that was at odds with the evidence in their own twenty-six volumes?
When this one point is considered and added to all the other evidence in this issue, it becomes apparent that the WC made claims and reached a conclusion that is NOT supported by their own evidence. Thus, their conclusion is sunk.
