President John F. Kennedy is assassinated at 12:30 p.m. on this day in 1963. Officially three shots are fired and the president is hit twice including a fatal wound to the head.
The House Select Committee on Assassinations concludes that a fourth shot is fired, but misses.
A witness, Homer McMahon, at the CIA's National Photographic Interpretations Center center views the Zapruder film to create color stills and his opinion is that between 6-8 shots hit the president.
Based on all the known damage done in Dealey Plaza and to the limousine it is likely that 10-12 shots wete fired from multiple locations.
President Kennedy is the fourth president to be assassinated in the United States' history.
