Let's continue with Mark Lane's rebuttal to Dallas D.A. Henry Wade's claims at his press conference on 11/23/63. ALL quotes of Wade are from the N.Y. Times 11/26/63 issue.
********************************************
Point Six
Lee Harvey Oswald (LHO) had possession of an identification card with the name Hidell. Wade said: "On his (LHO's) person was a pocketbook. In his pocketbook was an identification card with the same name (Hidell) as the post office box on it."
The funny thing about this comment was that when LHO was arrested NO card was found when he and his possessions were searched. The ONLY alias they thought he used to get rooms was O.H. Lee. This announcement about the card came AFTER it was revealed he had allegedly purchased the rifle using this name. Again, the Part III of the post office mailbox application showed NO one but LHO could receive mail at it.
Why did Wade NOT publicly mention this alias UNTIL AFTER the FBI announced the purchase of the rifle using the name Hidell?
Point Seven
LHO was seen in the building by a police officer just after the President was shot. Wade said, "A police officer immediately after the assassination ran into the building and saw this man in a corner and tried to ARREST him, but the manager of the building said he was an employee and it was all right. EVERY OTHER EMPLOYEE WAS LOCATED but this defendant of this company. A description and name of him went out by police to look for him."
Why was Marrion Baker going to arrest LHO at this time? What reason could he have UNLESS he was supposed to because he knew LHO was the patsy? As we have seen before too, LHO was NOT the ONLY person missing as Wade claims, so again, why was he singled out? Since both Wade and Curry painted the picture of KNOWING the shots came from the Texas School Book Depository (TSBD) for sure, why would LHO or anyone else be ALLOWED to leave? And yet they did.
As Mark Lane asks, why would LHO risk the time to stop off for a soda when the building could be sealed off at any time?
Again, we see Wade disseminated FALSE information to the media to make LHO look guilty.
Point Eight
Marina Oswald said the rifle was missing Friday morning. Wade said, "The wife had said he had the gun the night before, and it was missing that morning after he left." When all statements made by her to local law officials and the FBI were read NO such statement could be found!
Marina said, at most, that she saw something in a blanket that COULD HAVE BEEN A RIFLE. In fact, it would be learned later that she did NOT know LHO ever OWNED A RIFLE nor did she know he owned a pistol. (N.Y. Times, 12/8/63)
Why would they tell such an obvious lie? Perhaps because Marina was being incarcerated, excuse me, protected by the SS and they knew no one could speak with her. As Mark Lane pointed out with LHO dead and there being NO trial there was NO legal reason for the SS to be sequestering her like this. It reminds one of another country, doesn't it?
Point Nine
LHO had a package under his arm on Friday. Wade said, "This day he went home one day earlier on Thursday night, and came back to--with this fellow--and when he came back he had a package under his arm that he said was window curtains. I believe, or window shades."
As we now know, ONLY one person could be found to say he carried any "curtain rods" (NOT curtains or shades) into the TSBD and that person, Wes Frazier, admitted to being FIFTY FEET BEHIND him when he entered the TSBD and "not paying attention to him or the package." He also said the package was ONLY 24" long and this is much too short for a disassembled 40" Carcano.
His sister would also describe the package as being too short to carry the alleged murder weapon in. Their mother, who was visiting and having breakfast with them (and saw LHO), did NOT see ANY package being carried by LHO. Jack Dougherty who worked in the TSBD and saw LHO enter did NOT see any package in his hands.
Why would Wade, and the WC, make such a claim when they knew they couldn't support it?
