The story of James Earl Ray (JER) is very similar to that of Lee Harvey Oswald (LHO). It was as if they were written in a Hollywood movie studio.
Here is an excerpt from Dr. William Pepper's book “An Act of State".

A man is shot with a high-powered rifle, he dies in public. The police rapidly move with the help of the FBI and will eventually apprehend the guilty man. The guilty man is questioned as they try to learn more about the crime.
The man said he was innocent and that he shot no one. The man was very different than expected. He was shy, docile, soft-spoken, thoughtful and not at all the kind of racist figure that had been depicted in the media*. Not at all. He knew very little about weapons, very clearly had virtually no skill at all with them.
[*Note: Substitute the word racist with Communist in the case of LHO.]
The man always kept five bullets, typically, in his pistol. When he was arrested he had five bullets in his pistol. He always kept the firing pin chamber empty. When I pressed him on that, a long time, he wouldn't answer that question. Finally he admitted, with some embarrassment, that he kept the firing pin chamber empty because he shot himself in the foot once [laughs]. And he just didn't want to do that again.
The man was incompetent when it came to rifles. He had a virtually non-existent marksmanship score when he took his test in the service. He didn't know much about guns. When he was instructed to buy a weapon that became the throw-down gun in the assassination he bought the wrong rifle, as compared to what he was told to get. He didn't know the difference between them. When he showed the weapon he had bought to the man, who was controlling him, he sent him back to exchange it. It was a matter of record. He went back and exchanged this one rifle for another the next day. That's not something he thought of himself. It just was the wrong gun. The guy wanted a different rifle as the throw-down gun. So he had to go back and exchange it.
[*Note: LHO said that when he was in New Orleans he was directed by a “A. Hidell” on what to do.]
The shooting was captured on film but locked up and never seen by the American people*. There was no real investigation by the local police or the FBI to try and find out what happened, instead they knew they had their "man." Witnesses that said anything different from the official version were ignored.
[*Note: The Zapruder film was purchased by Time-Life and locked up. It would eventually be seen in 1975 by the American people.]
A safe house was used for the planning of the crime and the controlling of the man who would be accused of the shooting. The local police were in on it* as they attended all the major meetings concerning the assassination. In fact, a police officer is assumed to the be the shooter over the years. A military sniper team is involved as back-up and this is uncovered many years later as well. They were there in case anything went wrong with the primary source, to clean-up and take care of the mark. The contract is shown to originate with Carlos Marcello in New Orleans, but over time the CIA, the FBI and military Intelligence will be shown to be involved.
[*Note: Many researchers and others have said that members of the Dallas Police Department were involved in the JFK conspiracy.]

We all know of course this is the story of Martin Luther King's assassination, right? Yes it is and it was proven in court on December 8, 1999, when the jury took less than an hour to convict and find the FBI, J. Edgar Hoover, the CIA, Richard Helms, Carlos Marcello and the military intelligence groups responsible for his death. William Pepper spent years on this and made substantial inroads for all of us.
We can learn a lot about the JFK murder by reading this great account as the players are the same, (insert Memphis PD for Dallas PD), and yet, Gerald Posner has defended both official theories to the max.
