This is an interesting story that I have posted before. It is a story of a man who says he saw a man who resembled Lee Harvey Oswald (LHO) quite closely in the company of others JUST TWO DAYS BEFORE the assassination. Also, the place he worked at, Red Bird Airfield, has been suspected of being a place for an escape flight by the shooters for years. In fact, the Dallas police were called because a plane was running its engines around 1:00 p.m. on the day of the assassination and it disturbed those in the area trying to watch the coverage.
Some like Anthony Marsh call this story a hoax, but the truth of the matter is it was NEVER INVESTIGATED properly to know if it was or not. Furthermore, the little work the FBI did on it shows it was probably true and had a deep meaning as they ALTERED the time it occurred to July 1963 to make it seem like he was wrong and the event was DISCONNECTED from the assassination. They would ONLY do this IF it had some truth (if not a lot of truth) to it in my mind. Just remember the countless others they altered to make what they saw and heard seem irrelevant.

Wayne January
JFK researcher Matthew Smith has discussed his conversations with Wayne January for many years now, and I wanted to put this story out for comment.
In his book “Conspiracy: The Plot To Stop The Kennedys” (CTPTSTK) he goes into much more detail than he did in his previous book “JFK: The Second Plot”. For one thing he could actually name Mr. January since he had passed away by the time of this book (2005), whereas, in the earlier book (1992) he did not have permission to do so.
This is a picture of the man that Mr. Smith got to know.
Quote on
January was a gentleman, and , indeed, a gentle man. It was a great privilege to know him. He became a minister of religion, a devout Christian, and an insightful man who regaled me with many wonderful and heart-warming stories. We became good friends as a result of his confiding in me, and I mourn his loss. – CTPTSTK, p. 137

Keep this in mind IF you are tempted to claim he was lying or just interested in attention.
In 1963 January was a part-owner in an aviation company that worked out of Red Bird Airfield. If this name sounds familiar it is because it has been mentioned in the President John F. Kennedy (JFK) assassination case when the details of the Tippit shooting are discussed. What is more interesting is his “association” with the CIA! Mr. Smith tells us about this.
Quote on
I learned much later that he was listed in a CIA booklet as a man on whom agents could trust and rely. That, of course, as far as January was concerned, would have related to anyone, but the CIA produced this booklet so that, so wherever agents went, they had people they need not have fears or doubts about employing. January was not in the pay of the CIA, nor was he an agent at any level, but the connection he had with the agency explains, in part, the events of which he told me. -- CTPTSTK, pp. 137-38

Mr. Smith learned of January from a book called “The Second Oswald” by Richard Popkin as it mentioned a possible sighting of LHO – real or false – at Red Bird Airfield a few days before the assassination. This captured Mr. Smith’s attention and he filed it away, until, in 1991 he had a chance to meet January. Before meeting with him however, he had stopped off at Mr. Weisberg’s residence and was granted permission to go through his massive files he had won through FOIA. Mr. Smith noticed a FBI account of an interview with January. The FBI said that he had told them he saw the person, presumably LHO, in July of 1963!
January told Mr. Smith emphatically on the phone that he had said he saw him on Wednesday (11/20/63) before the assassination. Why would the FBI make it sound like it was months before? IMO, and Mr. Smith’s, to make it sound less relevant to the assassination. Why would they do this IF LHO was the sole shooter? You can determine this for yourselves.
When shown a photocopy of the FBI report this is what January told Mr. Smith.

I saw Oswald on television just a day or two afterwards. The memory of seeing him the previous Wednesday was fresh in my mind. How would I have recalled having seen him several months before?

The story begins on 11/20/63, as on that day, January said he was approached by two “hippie” type people. Both of them were young.
Quote on
…a man and woman, were seeking to hire a light aircraft for a flight to Yucatan (Mexico). They arrived in an old black car, and, he saw through his office window, left behind them another passenger in the front seat. January described the man and woman well and carefully recounted what they said to him. They wanted to hire a plane to fly out of Red Bird Airfield two days later, on Friday, November 22. He wondered whether they could afford to rent a plane, and then had misgivings they were heading for Cuba. When he finally drew the conclusion they might well want him to pilot the plane, he put of the shutters, and refused them point blank. He told me he had a feeling he might take them where they wanted to go and never be allowed to return.
The car he saw them arrive in was an older model of a make he had once owned, and he was interested in it. He escorted his visitors to their car so that he could view it more closely. He also saw the young man sitting in the front seat at close quarters and, two days later, when the president was killed, he realized from pictures shown that it was Oswald.
Assuming the man in the front seat was really Oswald, the scenario becomes clearer. The couple who had approached January were CIA agents trying to set up an “escape route” for Oswald, the patsy, after the president’s assassination. Having failed with January, presumably the two agents succeeded with another company, because it was well established that a small plane was ready for takeoff and revving up for so long near the perimeter fence at Red Bird Airfield that complaints from nearby residents were made to the police, resulting in the aircraft being impounded by the FBI. There is no doubt about the complaints being made to the police; they were reported on local television during the afternoon of Friday, November 22. -- CTPTSTK, p. 137

One thing here I am interested in is the comment about an “old black car” the couple drove up in. Does anyone know if Wes Frazier’s car was black? I can’t stop thinking of his testimony before the WC when he said this.
Mr. BALL - Do you remember any conversation when he asked you what the clutch was?
Mr. FRAZIER - Oh, yes. We got talking about that. He noticed, you know, **most cars as old as mine**, you know most of them are standard shift, and **when I bought this old car it kind of fooled me it had automatic transmission** on it so we got talking about it on the way home driving home and I told him that I really prefer a standard because you know, they are a lot easier to work on and you know, when an automatic goes dead it goes dead, there is no rolling a couple of feet and jumping on the clutch and starting when the battery is down.
What jumps out here for me besides him owning a very old car is the fact someone took the time to change it from a standard to an automatic! Even in 1963 most cars were standards and yet we see he had a really old car with an automatic transmission in it! Who would spend the money and why would this have happened? It could NOT have been cheap to do and given the age of the car why would they do it?
I’m just guessing here, but don’t you think the government (CIA?) would have the money to do this? I sure do.
Anyway, if this was all there was it would be an interesting and intriguing story, but there is more.
The company January was a partner in, Royal Air Service Inc., was wrapping up the selling off of large aircraft. This was part of a top-secret government program that was interested in developing radar mapping for low-level flying by such planes as the F-111 fighter-bomber.
At the time of our story they only had one DC3 left to sell off to finish the contract. This final plane was sold in mid-November by January’s partner and the owner showed up on November 18 to sign for it. January told Mr. Smith he was a very well-dressed gentleman. January said “he was about six feet tall, fair complexioned, brown hair, and late thirties to early forties. His haircut was short, military type, and wore slacks and a sport shirt.” January also said, “he had no particular accent.” January said later on he found out he was an Air Force Colonel who specialized in the type of plane being specialized.
This Colonel brought along an experienced pilot with him to check the plane over from top to bottom before he sale would be finalized. This is where it gets interesting!
Quote on
He was born in Cuba, he said, and had been a senior pilot in Fidel Castro’s air force. Recruited by the CIA, he had flown for it at the Bay of Pigs, when the CIA-led invasion had been routed. He talked to January, and as the day passed, they became friends. The next day, Wednesday, November 20, the day January had encounter with the “hippie” –type CIA agents, they became relaxed and even friendlier. It was the following day that the anti-Kennedy feeling in the air became apparent. January told me, “[There] seemed to be an air of anxiety because the radio and television were spending a lot of time [discussing] the President’s visit to Dallas. Many people were displeased with the President’s policies and politics in general.” It was about ten o’clock in the morning when a friend of January’s came up to the plane and stayed talking for over an hour. He added his own unhappiness with the president to what was going about. “I really didn’t pay any attention” said January, “for I just considered him to be rambling with his mouth like everybody else.”
After his friend left, January asked the CIA pilot if he would like to eat some lunch. The pilot said he did but that he did not want to leave the plane, making the excuse that they were a little behind with preparations. January obligingly went over to the restaurant and bought sandwiches for them both. They settled down leaning against the plane’s landing wheels and chatted. Then there was a pause, January told me.
It was now between 12:30 and 1:00 PM. The CIA pilot looked at January and said, “They are going to kill your president.”
“What do you mean?” January asked.
“I mean they are going to kill your president,” replied the pilot.
“You mean President Kennedy?”
“Yes.”
“What makes you think that? Why would anyone want to do that?”
January told me the CIA pilot, with a somber face, said, “I was a mercenary pilot, hired by the CIA. I was involved in the Bay of Pigs planning strategy which was operated by the CIA. I was there involved with many of my friends when they died, when Robert Kennedy talked John Kennedy out of sending in the air cover which he’d agreed to send. He canceled the air support after the invasion was launched. Many, many died. Far more than was told. I don’t know all that was going on, but I do know that there was an indescribable amount of hurt, anger, and embarrassment to those that were involved in the operation.”
“Is that why they will kill the President?” January asked.
The CIA pilot replied, “They are not only going to kill the President. They are going to kill Robert Kennedy and any other Kennedy that gets in their position.”
January told me that the pilot did not say what the position was. He said to the CIA pilot, “To be honest with you – and myself – I take what you have said with a grain of salt. Not meaning to insult you or hurt you in any way, it’s just too far fetched for me to believe. If I mentioned anything like that to the world, they would put me out of aviation as a nut, and ruin my reputation as a businessman.” The pilot’s only answer was, “You will see!”
“I have to say,” said January, “I had no answer to that. I could understand his feelings for the friends he lost, but I could not understand the matter-of-fact statements he had uttered, neither the certainty that was in his voice.” The conversation was dropped for a while, favoring small talk. Then the pilot came back with, “They want Robert Kennedy real bad.”
“What for?”
He said, “Never mind. You don’t need to know. Let’s get this job done, time is running out. My boss wants to return to Florida: he thought we would be through today. I told him we would be finished tomorrow by early afternoon.” Tomorrow was November 22, 1963.
Nothing else was said,. We just worked late to finish our job.
Quote off
The next day January said it was a normal day and as they were finishing the job he got told of the President’s shooting by a Texas Ranger Captain who happened to be a friend of his.

I did not know how to handle the situation. I knew the pilot was not involved (there are many ways to be involved – RC) because he was with me. Then I could not help myself: I had to ask him if he knew what had happened. He told me the man on the fuel truck had told him what had happened. There was a long pause, a sadness in the air, and then he said, “It’s all going to happen just like I told you.”

Matthew Smith believes this DC3 flew out of Red Bird that day with the complete team that had murdered JFK. He surmised it went from Dallas to Houston, and he also believes David Ferrie’s “ice skating” trip to Houston was really to fly this plane form Houston to its ultimate destination.
He tried to trace this plane and did learn that the number (N-17888) had been tied to a DC3 after initially being told a different type plane had that number and the DC3 never “existed.”
He also found out that the plane had been purchased by the Houston Air Center. Mr. Smith then contacted a former CIA Agent out of Houston and asked him if he would check this out for him. The former CIA Agent said the Houston Air Center was a “CIA front.”
All of the above is from CTPTSTK, pp. 141-45.
I think this shows us why the conspiracy has been so successful despite most of us realizing it was a conspiracy. Each group, or person, involved was told, or had their own, emotions and reasons for why they wouldn’t mind JFK being gotten rid of. We see the BOP survivors really believed it was for the failure that day, but come on, it was NOT the main reason. JFK had angered so many power centers that many were in front of the anti-Castro Cubans for wanting (or at least not minding) revenge.
I believe what he said, but the reasons he was told, or believed, were NOT the primary ones for why JFK, and later RFK, were killed.
Any comments or additional information regarding this would be greatly appreciated.
This story was never investigated by the WC, thus, their conclusion cannot be correct so it is sunk again.
