The Warren Commission (WC) claimed that Lee Harvey Oswald (LHO) assassinated President John F. Kennedy (JFK) all by himself on November 22, 1963.
As we have seen previously in this series many times the WC reached their conclusion without all the evidence as the Dallas Police Department (DPD) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) kept them in the dark on a number of issues.
The true nature of LHO's wallets is one of them as they seemed to be under the assumption based on what they wrote in their report that he only had one. This post will look this issue in greater detail.

These are the wallets that are known about. You will notice that none of them were given a WC exhibit number and this is curious as it leads one to think that the WC never saw them or knew about them.
Here are the wallets.
1) FBI Exhibit B-1 -- This is called the "arrest wallet" because supposedly it was taken from LHO in the squad car after he was arrested on the way to the DPD HQ. The odd thing about this claim is that NO wallet is listed on CE 1148 which lists the items taken off of LHO upon his arrest.

How do you suppose this would have played out in a courtroom? The defense clearly has a case of no chain of custody for it. Furthermore, this wallet, along with the others, does not appear in the WC volumes which adds to the mystery of it.
2) FBI Exhibit 114 -- This was a brown billfold found at the Paine residence on November 23, 1963, during a search. This wallet contained a Marine Corps group photograph which included LHO.
3) FBI Exhibit 382 -- A red billfold also found at the Paine residence during a search.
4) Black wallet mentioned by Marina Oswald during her WC testimony.
Mr. RANKIN. Did you usually keep a wallet with money in it at the Paines?
Mrs. OSWALD. Yes, in my room at Ruth Paine's there was a black wallet in a wardrobe. Whenever Lee would come he would put money in there, but I never counted it.
Marina Oswald testified to the fact that LHO kept money in this black wallet and took money from it from "time to time." The WC Report twice called this "his wallet" meaning LHO's, but the Secret Service (SS) catalogued the wallet under Marina Oswald's property.
5) The wallet found at the J.D. Tippit (JDT) murder scene that was filmed by WFAA photographer Ron Reiland. This wallet came to light in 1996 when retired FBI Agent James Hosty wrote a book entitled "Assignment: Oswald" and he mentions what was told to him by fellow FBI Agent Bob Barrett who was at the JDT crime scene (Hosty was not).
Barrett told Hosty that the DPD found no wallet on LHO when he was arrested and lied when they said they did. This is supported by two things. Firstly, CE 1148 shows that no wallet was taken from him on November 22, 1963. Secondly, the obvious thing is that LHO used his wallet as a cash holder and left it at the Paines for safe keeping. The WC said that the black wallet was his also, but it couldn't be at the Paines and on him at the same time.
The JDT crime scene wallet was planted by someone in the chain of conspiracy as it to conveniently contained identification for both LHO and a person named "Alek Hidell" according to Barrett.
If LHO actually was dumb enough to leave this incriminating evidence (keep in mind that the alleged murder weapons were only allegedly tied to Hidell and NOT LHO) then it is amazing that he was able to get around on his own without help. IF he did leave it, and that is highly doubtful based on the evidence, it could have been his role to do so. Perhaps he was playing a role he was assigned to perform.
It is much more likely that someone else planted it to point to him however, and Sergeant Gerald Hill comes to mind as he was at the Texas School Book Depository (TSBD) after the assassination; at the JDT murder scene; and at the Texas Theater (TT) when LHO was arrested. Clearly he had to be involved in this saga in some way.
Even Dale Myers who thinks LHO killed JDT said that the wallet found at the JDT murder scene and the alleged arrest wallet were not the same after he was able to view and photograph FBI Exhibit B-1 at the National Archives. This leads to a huge question -- what happened to the wallet seen in the Reiland footage?
Why was it not entered into evidence with the WC? In fact, why are none of the wallets in evidence? Why do they only have FBI exhibit numbers when the FBI had NO jurisdiction when they were allegedly discovered?
Why did LHO supposedly have five wallets? How many men have five wallets? Not many I can safely guess.
This wallet issue is another key aspect of the conspiracy involved in the murder of JFK. No conspiracy is perfect and this is another mistake by the conspirators.
This helps to sink the WC's claim that LHO acted alone, thus, their conclusion is sunk again.
